Depending on what type of emergency situation happens, it is possible that your garden could become contaminated by chemicals or bacteria.

The good news is that hydrogen peroxide can render your veggies edible again. Simply fill up your sink or a very large tub with cold water and add ¼ cup of hydrogen peroxide.

Make sure your vegetables are completely submersed in this mixture. Thick skinned veggies will need 30 minutes, but thinner skinned food such as lettuce will be okay to eat after 20 minutes.
