5. Infrared Space Heaters
Highly efficient space heaters like the EdenPURE can keep large rooms warm (as long as the power is on), allowing you to turn down your thermostat throughout the rest of the house. If you don’t have a fireplace, a space heater like this can do the job inexpensively and without the smoke and carbon monoxide concerns.
Most electric space heaters draw a lot of power. In a power outage, you may be relying on a solar, gas or diesel generator with limited output. It pays to be frugal with your power supply and shop for a heater that does the most with the least draw on your energy.
NOTE: The more insulated your home, the greater the danger of carbon monoxide building up. If you are using a fireplace or wood stove, make sure you have a working carbon monoxide detector.
