5. Improve Lantern Wicks

Lanterns are a prepper and homesteader staple, and they can be vital when the power goes out.

Although lanterns have a longer life than the typical candle, the wick will eventually die out. To get the most out of each lantern, soak the wicks in vinegar for several hours, and then let them air dry. Doing this will cause them to burn longer and brighter.

When you consider how important it will be to conserve resources after the SHTF, this one method alone should earn vinegar a spot in your bug out bag.
