15. Close Your Pant Legs During the Winter

Walking through snow can be miserable, especially if you do not have thick snow boots to stick your pant legs inside of. To prevent the snow from getting inside your pants, you can safety pin the base of each leg to your socks. This is also a good way to make your legs less enticing to ticks and other bugs during the summer.

As you can see, safety pins have a practically limitless list of uses when the SHTF, and you may even wish to begin using them more frequently right now. With this in mind, it makes sense to stock up on safety pins and to give them some space in your bugout bag.
