6. Use Cold Metal to Stop a Nosebleed

This one sounds like an old wives’ tale, but many people swear it really works. The next time someone gets a nose bleed, grab keys, a butter knife or any other metal that is cold to the touch and press the object to the back of the person’s neck.

At the same time, apply pressure to both sides of the bridge of their nose. The combination of cold and pressure is said to make the blood stop flowing more quickly than using pressure alone.
