1. Make it Difficult to Climb over Your Fence
Depending on where you live, you may or may not be able to get away with proactively putting barbed wire around the top of your fence.
If you currently live in a neighborhood that doesn’t allow this, you should still strongly consider purchasing enough barbed wire to use during an emergency situation. Keep it stashed somewhere safe that you can easily access in a hurry.
Don’t forget to put some thick gloves with your barbed wire pile.
Although barbed wire won’t keep everyone out, it will make most people think twice about attempting to infiltrate your property.
The vast majority of looters will move past your fence in search of a house that’s easier to get to. Don’t forget that you’ll need some type of fencing and lockable gate to surround your entire property. Barbed wire will need to go at the top of all of it.
