5. Make Sure Your Entry Doors are Kick Proof

Do you see anything wrong with the door in the nearby image? Aside from the fact that all of the windows will need to be covered with wood during an emergency, there’s also the problem that the door quite frankly isn’t very strong. But it could be.

What this door needs first is a professional grade deadbolt. If you want to be extra cautious, go ahead and add two of these.

You’ll also want to keep a few 2x4s on hand so that you can put them in place behind the door. If there isn’t enough room on both sides to drill a 2×4 into position, be sure to cut them down as needed in advance.

Additionally, if you happen to have a wooden door, replace that with metal right now. Seriously. Don’t wait until it’s too late.
