1. Lee Silverman
This controversial case almost resulted in an American hero losing his job. Fortunately, wisdom prevailed and that didn’t happen.
The hero’s name is Lee Silverman, and he was working as psychiatrist at the Wellness Center Hospital in Darby, Pennsylvania, when he found himself looking down the wrong end of the barrel. Patient Richard Plotts entered the hospital with more than 40 rounds and proceeded to kill his caseworker.
Next, Plotts took aim at Dr. Silverman. The psychiatrist was wounded in the shooting, but he was also able to pull out his concealed carry weapon before the damage could get any worse. Plotts was shot but lived; later on, he would publicly thank Dr. Silverman for stopping his shooting rampage.
By having a CCW, Dr. Silverman was able to prevent a psychiatric patient from going on a murder spree, and he also protected the lives of dozens of people.
