QUESTION: Will a bite from this snake kill you?

ANSWER: No, not unless you die of sheer fright.

While its often mistaken for a western diamondback rattlesnake, the bull snake is non-venomous. Don’t tell the bull snake that though.

Bull snakes are know for delivering a very convincing rattlesnake impression. Not only does the bull snake inhabit the same region, it hisses, produces a rattling sound with its windpipe, and even vibrates its tail in dried leaves to fool potential threats.

Bull snakes are one of the many snakes that imitate venomous neighbors to ward off would-be predators.
