I’m a retired grand mother. If you have a pet try putting a small gum at the edge of its bed. I have no grand kids that stay with me. It’s always safety first. Also behind the door in a backpack or kids purse.

  8. Well now I have a bunch more ideas. Some I already knew — but got some more good ideas and I’m not putting it on here! Used to laugh at my Mom for putting things in strange places where she couldn’t even find them again. When I cleaned her house out — I used to wonder what in the world was her so called “organization” all about. I used to tell her that nobody was going to break in here. They would kill themselves trying to find anything of value. And we would laugh. Well now I know her secrets.

  9. @Geo. and Miles. Just loved your comments. I’d do your typing and your laundry! Lol.

Great ideas but these comments also help others to find where to look for your stashed weapons that they may not have thought about. I think that there are folks here as plants to see where people are going with all this information. Be careful on losing our freedoms that are already in the process.

  11. A lot of newer homes have an access panel to the plumbing for the tub in a closet.

I was in a home a few years ago and they had big columns out in front holding up the porch
one was actually a gun safe the guy built, it held a bug out rifle and bag

He also had a couple catch releases in the stair risers inside that released the tread and had compartments within the stairs.

I keep the shotgun concealed under coats and scarves in the mudroom, loaded with grapeshot and ready to go on the way out the door. And thanks for the heads up on the hollowed out book. The nine millimeter will soon have a new hidey hole.

  13. Women who unlucky enough to have lost a breast can put a gun in the other side of the bra. Hopefully, it will hold a .38.

  14. With your brains, we don’t have to worry about you being around when SHTF time. These are places to hide from home invasion. To hide from government who will use sniffing dogs and electronics you have to put them in sealed plastic items and bury them outside under some thing that will hide them like a fireplace or grill, even the best places like under the mud in a real water feature, or in the garage in a battery with the acid removed.. The most important thing you need to survive is a brain. The smart people will be the ones who survive anyway so bye, bye.

  15. In a plastic bad in the bottom or the litterbox, millions of places

  16. Don’t forget to clean the weapon before hiding it and use oxygen absorb when hiding them. Also try to keep ammo hidden again with oxygen absorb around the house where it can be grabbed locked and load in a hurry. And don’t forget dogs are trained to smell ammo and coffee grinds so another solution needs to be used to mask the smell. You can use cat litter to mask the smell.

  17. If it gets to the point where the government confiscates, don’t you think they might use metal detectors? I think a second off sight location is ideal, and then retrieve once they’re gone. Maybe even purchase a small inexpensive gun to turn over to them, which would reinforce your credibility for being a “cooperative” citizen. The result being checked marked off their list and not flagged for a revisit!

  18. with all the ideas for well all the healthy people , what about us disabled ? I am deaf and an amputee right leg and left cant use it and in a wheelchair so where do you suppose I hide my 9mm that I can get to in a crunch?, other than in my normal safe that I keep everything else in.

  19. laundry dryer sheets work, great in cover sent masking! also remember to strip all weapons! of oil distillates, which is in every cleaner, and lubricant made, simply boil or steam clean it all off. some black powder grease is ideal to use! this is a must for every gun owner, hiding guns! Dogs will sniff out the oil distillates. they must be removed! or they will be confiscated.

  20. Tom, you could always consider carrying a weapon on your person, or even create a way to conceal a holster in your wheelchair.

  21. Hid a .25 cal pistol so well-still can’t find it. Hid my SW Mod59. Hunted for 2 years-no lie. My wife gathering stufff for yard sale-found it in VCR camera pouch. Der Uh. Sold the camera -kept the pistol. I have weapons on every level. All loaded. Hiding places for long guns. Between walls there is a 14 !/2 in wide space, 8ft tall between studs, you have a 3/12 depth to work with. Closets are best. Cut out the sheetrock, leave it open if you want don’t make a door or cover… A shot gun, AR15, or ammo will fit inside. If you leave the opening uncovered I would locate it right next to the left door jamb of a closet. Dark, coats and jackets hanging conceal it. Get a gun-Open the closet, turn around, reach in with you right hand, pull out the weapon and out the door.
Hide a pistol. The cereal box is good-can leave on the kitchen countertop but nowhere else-no one has cereal in the bathroom or living room. Cut out a book-leave anywhere but it has to be a fat book-like a telephone directory. Gun safe-make sure it’s a good one-friend of your teenage children will be there while you are on vacation to demonstrate how flimsy it is.

  22. Yeah… LIFE cereal 😉

  23. All of these are awesome places……BUT what the hell do you do when the crooks even steal your work boots by the door and your picture off the wall! Believe it or not they did just that in my house last month. Bought a shot gun and now I’m having my husband build it into the wall next to the door.

  24. the best thing to do to prevent burglars is a good home security system and a good safe. for the feds who knows how far they will go.

  25. Easier than cutting out a book is Grimm book case for gun storage It’s actually a bound lock box, looks like a book. Lock or leave unlocked if no kids around and on a bookshelf. Even an option to make up your own title. By 160 year old Grimm Bindery in Madison, WI.

  26. I’ve never even owned a gun. Any ideas on what I should get? I have a 13 year old daughter but no small children in the house.

  27. You have been asked this a million times, but I have not understood how you can post on the web these secrets on how to hide stuff and expect them to be a secret?

  28. Sorry but the prepared will be the ones to survive, most smart people are dumbass’s when it comes to commen sense.
But the best way is JESUS CHRIST, he our only hope for a future beyond this crazy world run by egomaniacs(wealthy)
but their money won’t save them from rejecting JESUS. Hell will be filled with ex-billionaires.

  29. Go to a garage sale and buy an old trenchcoat or long raincoat. Get some .375 steel rod and fashion yourself a heavy duty hanger and paint it to look like your plastic ones. Also put a hook hanging down from the hanger. Get a soft sided tactical guncase and place an Ar or Ak in it with ammo, magazines, handgun, knives, whatever you want. Hang it from the hook on your hanger. Put the coat on the hanger and button it up. Place it in the closet with all your other clothes off to one side. To anyone that looks in the closet, it will appear to be just an old coat without lifting it up. They may want to see whats in the back of the closet but will only move the clothes from the center of the rack. Thats why you put it to one side. I have shown this technique to several people and they copied it and challenged others to find it. They never did.

  30. This article is about providing and sharing ideas. Few of these will stand up to a thorough, systematic search with a lot of time. The idea is to hide a gun in case you need it quickly or under some duress. Are you worried about a home invasion? Are you worried about civil unrest? Are you worried about burglary? Some of these ideas are more practical or safe than others. You need to examine your home, consider your needs, consider safety and decide what to do. One last thought, this article is about hiding your guns, what about a good quality gun safe? This provides safety and security for your guns and ammo and it is unlikely an addict with a crowbar can open or carry out of your home.

  31. Sounds great. What size is it, where do I buy one and how much is it? I have several different sizes of guns so one of them should fit. Boy, sure would beat cutting up a book. Thanks.

  32. An empty pizza box is great too depending on your living situation

  33. I hide my 380 LCP under a pile of folded pants on the upper shelf of our closet. I can bounce out of bed and retrieve the pistol in two steps (loaded and ready to fire).

  34. AMEN, Brother!
    Excellent and very true comment.

  35. How do I save my Firefox bookmarks when getting a new computer?

  36. Several good points here. I have a coat rack that I bought from Woodcrafters316 that has a hidden back-box installed within the wall cavity so I can always have something near the door in case something goes bump in the night. Has anyone had any success keeping sealed and buried PVC pipe dry for more than 6 months or so?

  37. Or whichever spiritual construct one may revere.

  38. I have had throw a ways for snoopers and the government for years. This is a great way to get them to get off your case when they know you take hand gun training for defince and hunting. I am 5’5″ and 120 and over 60 and a widow, always helps to do their patchers tayloring and ironing for all the local officers as a thank you for their service, I charge $0.50 to $5.00 and give a reciepe (sorry do not spell well) that way every thing is legal and above board, and you get to go out on the range and take classes at no cost. Amazing the info you hear if you keep your mouth shut.

  39. Just for info any female with 38-D or larger I have never even had to use a extra holster you will find a 380 and 45. fit real nice and can be used right or left handed.

  40. NOW EVERYBODY GOV. POLICE & THE BAD GUYS HOME INVATION PEOPLE KNOW THE HIDING PLACES.
    REAL SMART

  41. Great ideas,
However in a large city it seems we spend more time in our cars than we do at home, so, where are good places to hide them in your vehicle?

  42. The Swaffer One, You speak of most wealthy people don’t have any common sense? What about hardworking people who are wealthy that have common sense? Why bring Jesus Christ into this, when the article is talking about noticing a person carrying a weapon? Your grammar and spelling just shows you don’t have much of either. Keep thumbing on your Bible. Maybe JC will be there to help you notice who is carrying a weapon or a Bible in their pants. Good Luck with that.

  43. Finally, a post that is straight to the point. I was beginning to wonder about some of these comments if some of these folks should even own a weapon? Use your common sense. I have several weapons and keep them all in hands reach what ever part of the house I’m at. Remember seconds count, you aren’t going to have time to say let me get MY weapon I’ve got hidden here or there. Remember that high powered hand gun will go through sheet rock and end up hitting Mama or children . Have a plan if needed before hand to be safe. Get yourself a Home Defense Shotgun with buck shot. The situation will only last a few moments. End it on your terms. Best of Luck, and hope it never happens to you or yours.
