8. Strategically Arrange Your Box Fans

Cool 8

There has been a lot of debate over box fan placement, but we’re here to tell you what really works. On days that are not oppressively hot or humid, you can place your box fans facing in to suck in the breeze. However, if it is a very humid, hot day, this is not a wise idea for those of you who only have one window. Instead, flip the fan around and use it to pull the hot air out of your home.

If you have two windows on opposite sides of the room or house, you can put one fan facing in and the other facing out. This will create a cooling effect as any breeze will be pushed into the center of your space at the same time that the hot air is sucked out of the area. In order for this to work, make sure that the necessary doors are open and that there is a natural flow path.
