Wild asparagus is a highly prolific vegetable that can found in every state. The USDA has even compiled a map of areas where wild asparagus is known to grow, and this can help you in your search.
To find wild asparagus, it is best to look for a spot off the beaten path that receives a lot of sun such as a ditch. Depending on your local climate, you may find edible asparagus between March and June, with late April through early May being the prime season in many states. This wild vegetable also likes to grow around fences, so keep an eye out for it whenever you are on public land.
