3. Wild Carrots
Also known as Queen Anne’s Lace, the root of this plant looks and smells like a carrot. It is edible and will provide you with vegetable nutrients. However, you need to make absolutely certain that you harvest the right thing because some similar looking plants, including poison hemlock, are highly poisonous for humans. To tell the difference, look for wild carrots in a dry field during the summer and fall. Steer clear of similar plants that are in or near water. Additionally, the roots should smell like a carrot. If that familiar scent is not found, do not eat the plant you have found.
