9 Minutes of Expert Tactical Firearms Training for FREE

When it comes to learning new skills, it’s really hard to beat YouTube. Often times, when I’m doing some automotive work on my truck, I’ll find an instructional video that details exactly how to replace the failing part. It’s amazing.

However, the problem with YouTube is determining the credibility of the so-called “expert” in the video… especially when you’re dealing with serious topics like firearms and home defense.

That’s why I was so excited to find these 3 short videos from tactical shooting instructor Clint Smith from the Thunder Ranch (Clint’s tactical shooting school in Oregon). In these 3 videos, Clint distributes some excellent advice that could prove lifesaving in a self-defense situation.

1. Defensive L-O-G-I-C

2. Home Defense

3. Loading from Empty

The thing I really like about Clint’s teachings is that he focuses on non-weapon specific procedures. That way, if you ever have to use an unfamiliar firearm (you never know what weapon you’ll have access to in an emergency) in a tense situation, you’ll be prepared with the most sound tactics.

Now, enjoy a few words of tactical firearm wisdom from Clint:

Don’t forget, incoming fire has the right of way.

I carry a gun cause a cop is too heavy. If you carry a gun, people will call you paranoid. That’s ridiculous. If I have a gun, what in the hell do I have to be paranoid about.

Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets. I may get killed with my own gun, but he’s gonna have to beat me to death with it, cause it’s going to be empty.

The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental.Shoot what’s available, as long as it’s available, until something else becomes available.

When you reload in low light encounters, don’t put your flashlight in your back pocket… If you light yourself up, you’ll look like an angel or the tooth fairy…and you’re gonna be one of ‘em pretty soon.

Don’t shoot fast, shoot good.

You have the rest of your life to solve your problems. How long you live depends on how well you do it.

Don’t pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he’ll just kill you.

An armed man will kill an unarmed man with monotonous regularity.

What type of firearm do you keep for tactical or defense situations: Handguns, shotguns, or rifles?

Hi Frank! That’s a difficult question to answer without knowing more about your background. If this is your first and only gun, I recommend a 12-gauge pump shotgun. Pump shotguns are great for home defense and relatively safe for beginners to learn with.
