5. Fishing Tackle
Fishing tackle will be allowed in carry-ons, as long as it meets the size requirements or your airline.
This includes telescoping fishing rods and lures, BUT it goes without saying that there’s a certain level of discretion required when putting together your carry-on tackle box.
Large hooks may cause problems for you as you go through security, as well as large stringers or anything else that could be construed to be weapon-like.
Obviously, you should leave out that fillet knife, as it will be intercepted and possibly confiscated.
However, should you need to use your seat cushion as a floatation device, you may be glad to be carrying a fishing setup.
