Contrary to popular belief, lots of hand tools are now allowed in your carry-on.

While saws and hammers are going to definitely raise flags, passengers are allow to carry tools under 7 inches in length. This includes screwdrivers, wrenches, and pliers.

Like with any of the other items on this list, it’s best to use discretion when packing tools. Many highly useful multi-piece tool kits are small enough to mesh with TSA’s guidelines.

It’s probably best to skip the chisel, center punch, and definitely the utility knife.
