2. Waterproof Storage Container from Soda Caps
Changing the way we look at everyday items sharpens our minds in the event that we truly do need to improvise in a SHTF scenario. It also gives us a chance to watch cool YouTube videos and impress our friends with our amazing resourcefulness.
I can think of few things cooler than demonstrating how to turn a bottle cap into a waterproof storage container, household items into a slingshot, or hauling the catch of the day on a homemade fishhook that you created in about 5 seconds.
Hows that for impressing your friends? Each of these DIY “hacks” are as impressive as they are easy. Some of them could save your life, others could just save you from suffering intolerable boredom. Either way, better to know and not need than to need and not know…
This extremely inventive project may seem odd at first, but hang with it because creating a small, lightweight waterproof container is a very smart idea for preppers.
After all, you need to be able to keep things such as matches safe from the elements, but you also want to make everything as lightweight and compact as possible for your bugout bag.
There are two variations on this project showcased in the video. Both require two soda bottles, a hacksaw, epoxy, sandpaper and, preferably, a vise. As long as you already have the basic tools, the process of making these containers will be quick, easy and very inexpensive. Consider this method as an alternative for carrying first aid items that may typically come in small glass jars.
