10. Raid the Water Heater for Fresh Water
After the SHTF, you will need to find access to clean (or cleanable) drinking water. One easy resource that most people overlook is their own hot water heater. As long as the tank isn’t rusty, it will be filled with drinkable water. There is a water release valve near the bottom of every water heater, and this is how you can tap it. If society has seriously crumbled and people have left their homes behind, you can find water by going from house to house. Of course, this water supply won’t last forever, so it’s still wise to invest in water purification tablets.
