1. Follow the Rats
If you find yourself on a sinking boat or anywhere else with an excess amount of water, keep an eye on the direction that the rats, mice and other creatures are headed. These animals instinctively know to get away from water in order to avoid drowning, so following them could lead you to safety. It turns out that rats are actually the last ones to go down with a sinking ship because they are smart enough to seek out a dry spot for as long as one exists.
