Most shooters are of the opinion that any target beyond 25 yards is more or less a waste of ammo. But how many shooters have actually put that to the test?

As you can imagine, it’s not easy for everyone to setup a safe testing area for this type of long distance testing. In particular, this often involves holding your sights well over the top of the target (sometimes the horizon).

Still, if it can be done safely, shooting at 100 yards can really help fine tune your overall shooting technique. That’s because shooting at this range really amplifies all the fundamentals of good handgun technique, from sight alignment to follow-through.

As you can see in the video, Guns.com expert marksman, Rod Ryan, has a picture perfect testing area to launch long-range lead at a steel target. The footage speaks for itself, proving that hitting a fairly large target at 100+ yards is not only possible, but actually very achievable.
