Dakota Fire Hole

This technique enables you to hide your fire, which could be very important after the SHTF. Dig a 12” hole that is large enough to contain your fire. Next, you will dig a smaller, more discrete second hole approximately 8” away that meets up with the first one. This will provide the necessary oxygen to keep your fire lit. You must use smaller piece of wood and kindling with this fire, so it will be necessary to maintain it regularly. However, the trade-off of having a less noticeable fire will be well worth this time investment!
