4. Sewing Kits
Although needles are sharp and threatening, TSA has given the crafty knitting and sewing crowd a break by allowing a full range of supplies to be store in your carry-on. If you’re prepper, then you already know how important it is to have a sewing kit of some king, in case you need to make some emergency repairs to your backpack, clothing, or maybe even practice your suturing skills.
A small, unobtrusive sewing kit should breeze through any TSA checkpoint. Even large knitting needles are technically allowed, though an overly thorough agent may still hassle you over them. You can even bring scissors in your carryon (more about that on the next page).
