# 5: Stay in Shape
Dealing with the heat this summer can be considered a battle, and it’s an easier battle to win for those of us that are fit and healthy. And, just as in any skirmish, your chances are better for surviving if you are prepared for what’s coming at you. You should regard the sun as your enemy this summer, and resolve to get in tight form to battle its hot rays of death. Also, if you’re overweight, fat is nature’s insulator (just ask any polar bear). Fat is made to hold in as much heat as it can, so it’s not the perfect characteristic to have when your body is struggling to cool down.
The survivalists at the Patriot Caller know that being physically fit is doubly important when it comes to handling disaster scenarios, too. And the odds of you surviving a worst-case scenario increase if you are in good health and in tip-top physical shape. That’s why it’s of the utmost importance to make sure you’re eating a healthy diet and participating in a fitness plan that works for you after getting your physician’s approval. Remember, being in shape is equivalent to being prepared in almost all prepper situations.
