Plan and Enjoy “Micro Victories”
Focus is a part of mental toughness that’s often talked about, but rarely examined. What the heck is “focusing” anyway.
Just because you’re staring at a problem with intensity doesn’t mean you’re focused, does it?
The key to the focus we hear about so much is more or less successfully overcoming the everyday challenges and setbacks on the way to success. Lots of people do this by making checklists.
Each time your complete one piece of the goal, you get a mini victory. You get a chance to look at the overview of how the overall task is going. Things begin to snowball.
Then suddenly something sets you back and you have to zero in on how to overcome that part. Then you solve it. Again, another mini victory on the way to your goal. Checkpoints along the way are an important part of discipline and orienting yourself.
