 5. Cut off a Small Piece of Honeycomb and Watch Out for the Queen!

There is no reason to attempt to remove the entire hive, and doing so would only put you in greater danger. Therefore, look for the queen bee because the others will protect her.

The queen is usually the largest bee in the group, and it is possible that her back will be dark brown or greenish-blue. Choose your slice of the honeycomb far away from the queen, and be sure to avoid taking any larvae with you.

After you have successfully extracted a piece of honeycomb, back away and leave the bees alone.
