Step Three: Cut the Wick
Remove the jar from the freezer, and take the string off of the skewer. Cut the wick down to the normal height. At this point, the candle is ready to use, and it should burn cleanly for approximately 40 hours! If you are feeling crafty, you can also decorate the outside of the jar.
Believe it or not, candles can actually spoil due to the ingredients that are used. Therefore, if you are planning to make a large cache of candles for when the SHTF, it will be best not to add any essential oils. Additionally, you should rotate your candles so that you will always grab and use the oldest ones first.
