Step Three: Use Your Hacksaw to Refine the Pieces
During this step, you will use your hacksaw to cut the wood into small enough pieces that can fit inside your paint can. Even if you had previously cut your log to the height of your paint can, it may still be necessary to do some refining with a hacksaw to get the best results.
Step Four: Fill the Paint Can with Wood
After everything has been trimmed down to size, stick as many pieces of wood as possible into your paint can. Next, put the lid on tightly.
It will most likely be necessary to use your mallet to hammer the lid in place. The lid should be secured so that it does not move even if you hold the can upside down.
Step Five: Start a Fire
Start a fire in a safe area. A fire pit works best for this project.
Be sure to use kindling in order to make this step quick and easy.
