How to Do It:
1. Pour the heavy cream into the jar and cap tightly with lid.
2. Turn jar sideways, and then start shaking it from top to bottom. You’re about to make butter and get a workout, too!
3. At about the ten-minute mark, the cream will separate itself into butter and buttermilk.
4. Pour the buttermilk into the second jar or container and reserve for other use. It will need to be refrigerated.
5. Pour enough cold water into the jar that contains the butter, making sure there is enough to cover the butter. Shake the jar enough to wash as much as you can of the buttermilk off the butter.
