It’s an absolute must to enjoy some delicious homemade butter at least once in your lifetime, and if you’ve been lucky enough to try it, you know that the experience of spreading it on your favorite baked goods and eating it is sheer bliss. Just thinking about the taste of it spread on top of a muffin takes you back to a time when life was simpler, and someone knowledgeable about the process in your family probably prepared this type of butter for you during some point of your life — most likely during your childhood.

That person was usually your grandma, and the way she made it usually involved laboring over an old-fashioned wooden butter churn with raw milk that came straight from pastured cows. Making butter this way is an art, and you may mistakenly assume that certain art is lost,  just knowing there is no way to create that same experience in your own home. Fortunately, that’s not the case, and you can make homemade butter that’s every bit as good as your granny’s. We, over at the Patriot Caller understand this, and we’re here to show you how to do it.
