How to Churn Butter

churn

For those of you die-hard homesteaders that want to return to your roots, you can churn old-fashioned butter whether there’s power or not with the glass butter churn discussed here. Creating butter this way makes for some tasty results and provides a little bit of nostalgia to boot. Get ready to turn that churn a good 30 to 45 minutes, though. No wonder granny had such strong arms!

Things You’ll Need:

1. Heavy cream (4 quarts) at a temperature of around 60˚F

2. 8-quart glass churn.

3. Mixing bowls.

4. Spatulas and large spoons.
