6. Mint
Are you new to container gardening, or gardening in general, and afraid that you’re going to mess up? Confidence is key in gardening, as with anything else in life, and you can gain a lot of it by growing mint as your first endeavor. This is because mint is practically impossible to kill!
Mint is also best grown in a container even if you do have a traditional garden space available. In other words, put mint in a pot, container or hanging basket and place it on your patio, balcony or near a window. Before you know it, you’ll have grown your own mint!

7. Strawberries
Fruit, especially from the berry family, is an essential part of your daily diet if you want to remain healthy. However, fruit can also be very expensive. Reduce the strain on your current grocery budget and prepare yourself for when the SHTF by starting at least one strawberry plant in a container.
Growing strawberries in a pot is actually one of the best ways to prevent fungal problems. It’s important to note that if you let the plant flower and fruit during its first year, you’ll need to acquire a new strawberry plant the following year.
Alternatively, you can keep one plant alive for several years by giving up the fruit this year. Simply pinch all of the flowers off when they begin to grow. Next year, you won’t need to take this step and can wait for the fruit to be ready to harvest instead. Doing this prevents you from eating your own fresh strawberries this year, but it will give you at least a few years of life from the plant.
