4. Do NOT Tilt Your Head Back with a Nose Bleed

H4

A bloody nose isn’t usually a serious medical emergency, but if you listen to Hollywood, you could end up putting yourself in a life or death situation. For decades, scriptwriters have been instructing actors to tell us to tilt our head back in order to stop the blood flow.

The problem? Following this ineffective course of action could cause blood to enter your esophagus, which can lead to vomiting and choking. In other words, you could choke to death on your own blood. Avoid this unnecessary fatality by squeezing the area below the bridge of your nose between your index finger and thumb for approximately 10 minutes.

5. Running Away from Wild Animals is a Very Bad Idea

Hollywood has a warped idea of what wild animals are actually like. For example, filmmakers seem to think that every animal is a huge threat to people and is waiting for any excuse to launch an attack.

This is quite simply not true. To add to this misinformation is the very unfortunate depiction of people successfully outrunning animals that actually are angry and out for blood.

Running is one of the worst things that you can do if an animal has you in its sights. It is much better to slowly back away. If you run, the animal will chase you, so you had better be able to run really fast or else you are going to end up injured or dead.
