The vast majority of Americans have had absolutely ZERO training in hand-to-hand combat. In fact, many grown men have never been in a fist fight, at least not since high school.
That’s not a bad thing, necessarily. It means that we live in a peaceful nation where violence is rare and self-defense is necessary only infrequently. It also means the that a very small amount of training and practice can go a long way.
Because the bar is very low, meaning few adults in our society have and any training or experience, knowing only a couple of good, high-percentage striking moves can allow you to subdue the vast majority of attackers at a given bar, dark alley, etc.
