Pool Shock
If you drink your fair share of water throughout the day, you may take for granted its safe access. If you’re looking for a chemical that exceeds what other household products can do, you may want to look into pool shock.
Commonly known as calcium hypochlorite, pool shock can treat upwards of 10,000 gallons of liquid using a 1-pound container. Found to be better than other household chemicals on the market, pool shock can kill an assortment of organisms that include yeast, bacteria, spores, viruses and fungus.
You can disinfect your drinking water in three easy steps. Begin by taking an excessive teaspoon of high-test calcium hypochlorite for every two gallons of drinking water.
Add one part of the mixture to 100 parts of your contaminated water. The mixture will then need at least 30 minutes to sit before it’s safe for drinking. Pool shock can become useless after a while when it’s turned into liquid form, so it’s best to purchase it in dry granular form. You’ll also want to treat small batches of drinking water at a time.
