5. Pack the Wound with Gauze

Packing the wound with gauze is a good way to prevent the individual from bleeding to death. You may also need to put a tourniquet above the wound.

There are various types of gauze available, and it is best to have a few options in your first aid kit. Combat Gauze and CELOX are used for larger wounds, but you can turn to Surgicel if you need to pack a minor wound.

All of these options are useful for temporarily stopping the blood flow, but the injured person will most likely still need to get medical help as soon as possible.
