DIY Tooth Removal in Modern Times: Bad Idea

Say you decide you have the intestinal fortitude to endure some unpleasantness and have a painful, rotten tooth that just needs to go…like…IMMEDIATELY. Should you try the removal at home in order to save a little bit of cash? The short answer is a resounding NO. If the molar extraction portrayed in Castaway had happened in real life, Chuck Nolan probably would have died shortly after the procedure. Why? Well…tooth extractions can lead to serious bleeding and life-threatening infections, and performing dental operations without the proper training and experience is always a bad idea in normal scenarios.

Keep in mind that no matter how many videos you watch on the Internet that indicate otherwise, it’s not easy to pull your own tooth. Doing it wrong can be disastrous on so many levels.

Don’t be like the guy on the right…
