3. Do Not Rely Solely on Bottled Water

Flint 3

Bottled water can be great in a pinch, and every prepper should have some gallons stored away for an emergency situation. However, you need to know that not all bottled water is created equally. For example, we performed a TDS test on some bottled water yesterday, and the results indicated that there were contaminants present. This could be the result of unsafe bottling practices or it could be caused by plastic leeching contaminants into the water. Either way, it is important to be cautious.

If you must use bottled water, be sure to run a test periodically and compare it to your tap water’s results. The lower TDS number will be the most desirable, but any amount of lead can cause permanent damage. Ultimately, using the best filtering system you can afford will probably be just as effective as bottled water, and it will be much cheaper in the long run and better for the environment.
