Shock Lasts Longer Than Bleach
Before we dive into the purification process, it is important to discuss bleach. This is a powerful disinfectant that can, in many situations, be used to purify water. Unfortunately, there are also many drawbacks to relying on bleach.
First, its life expectancy is only nine to 12 months, which means you will need to replace it often. Bleach also takes up a lot more room than pool shock. Finally, highly concentrated or “ultra” versions of bleach may not be safe for human consumption, no matter how small of an amount you use or how you dilute it.
