4. Green Onions
Green onions are one of the easiest things you can grow, which makes them a perfect starter plant. The next time you buy green onions at the store, make sure they still have the roots attached. Next, use the green onions as you normally would, but save at least one onion’s bottom inch.
Get a pot of soil together and plant the bottom inch in it. Alternatively, you can stick the bottom inch in a glass with a tiny bit of water. The old root should begin to grow a new green onion within two days.

5. Peppers
Several pepper varieties, including hot peppers and banana peppers, can do well on a balcony or other small space. If you still don’t have enough room for the way they reach outside of their container, try a dwarf pepper plant instead.
The trick to keeping pepper plants happy is to put them in the sunniest spot available. They also need to remain moist at all times, so be sure to water them regularly.
