3. Close off Unnecessary Rooms
A major mistake that people make when trying to reduce their energy bills or deal with a power outage is keeping every room open and accessible. Instead, what you need to do is close off any rooms that are unnecessary.
If the heat is still working, you’ll even want to close the vents in those rooms so that the heat is directed into the rooms you’re actually using. This may force your entire family to sleep and spend time primarily in one room, but it will also make everyone warmer.
