6. Water Pumps Will Fail
If you get your water from a well, the water pump will quickly fail. People who rely on a local public water source will be okay for a little while, but that water will soon stop flowing as well. There’s also unlikely to be anyone able to keep a close eye on the public water, which could mean that untreated water will make it into homes before the entire system shuts down.
No matter how you slice it, the water situation will be a huge disaster if a major blackout lasts for more than a few days. Stock up on water right now to avoid this issue.

7. Toilets Will Get Backed Up
You know what happens when the water stops flowing, right? You won’t just lose drinking water. You’ll also lose the ability to sanitize things, and your toilet will stop working.
Do you have a chemical toilet or some other viable alternative on hand? If not, you still have some time to correct that mistake.
Failure to do so will quickly turn your home (or wherever else you take shelter) into a biohazard disaster.
