What Does Poison Sumac Look Like? ivy2

As you can see from the image, poison sumac also has the ability to present itself in colors aside from just green.

This quality combined with the lack of three distinctive leaves makes most people especially susceptible to exposure to poison sumac. It is important to note that these plants can look like either a small bush or a tree, and they can reach a height of 30 inches. Additionally, there will be anywhere from seven to 13 leaflets present in each cluster.

The stems are always red, so this is a helpful identification tool. You will also only find poison sumac in wet areas, and it does not exist in any western U.S. states. At certain times of the year, you might also notice small gray or white berries growing alongside the poison sumac leaves.
