5. Insect Repellent
Insect repellent is definitely a luxury that we take for granted. And it does a lot more for us than merely helping us avoid the inconvenience of bites that lead to a lot of itching. Consider for a moment how many diseases are spread by mosquitoes and ticks. The prevalence of insect repellent has definitely helped reduce your risk of getting sick.
Sadly, there’s only a finite amount of this stuff available, and it will quickly run out during the first summer after the SHTF. Natural repellents can be used after this point, but let’s be honest; the store bought stuff typically works better. Therefore, a lot more people will get sick, and many more will constantly have itchy and painful bites to deal with.
